Household garbage is picked up twice a week on Monday’s and Friday’s. We ask that garbage be put out curbside in garbage cans with lids or in plastic garbage bags to prevent loose garbage from littering village streets.

Commercial garbage is not picked up by the Village Department of Public Works.

As per Village Code garbage cans/containers should be removed from the curb or sidewalk area within (12) hours after collection and must be stored out of sight of curb, sidewalk or street until (12) hours before the next collection.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The 2015 Fall Leaf pickup program will start the week of October 19, 2015 and will continue through December 7, 2015.  We ask that all loose leaves be put out at the property edge. Please do not block sidewalks with leaves for this presents an unsafe condition for pedestrians. All leaf piles should be clear of brush, rocks, sticks and debris.

Biodegradable bags can be picked up at the D.P.W. garage, 359-1717, during normal work hours free of charge to all village residents.

Leaves put out in plastic bags will not be accepted.

The Village of Piermont encourages the use of biodegradable bags for the protection of the environment.

                                                                                           Snow Removal

During the winter months we ask that village residents refrain from shoveling snow onto the roadway. Snow that is deposited on the roadway will freeze thus causing ice conditions making it unsafe for motorists and pedestrians.

After all snowplowing has been completed after a snowstorm by DPW employees it is the property owners responsibility to clear their driveway approaches.

Village residents should consider covering all bushes and plants that are located by the road’s edge to protect them from the salt that will be applied to Village roads during the course of the winter.
