Elanor Stroud Park – Ice Skating Pond

Elanor Stroud Park – The park is next to the Sparkill Creek directly under the Route 9W viaduct that passes overhead.  This park is free to the public as all the parks in our Village.  This park is a great place to enjoy an afternoon picinic and in the wintertime it makes for great ice-skating.

Lace up your skates and head to the Ice Skating pond.  If the Green Flag is up the pond is ready for skaters. If the Red Flag is up the skating pond is not to be used.  The park is unsupervised so skaters must skate at their own risk.  Please be mindful of others and take any garbage with you.  The Park closes at 9PM.

A message from Mayor Bruce Tucker:

Dear Piermont Residents and Business Owners,

It is with great honor and anticipation that I officially assume the office of Mayor of the Village of Piermont.   Both I and our new Trustee, Ivanya Alpert, are excited to get working for the citizens of Piermont.  Over the past few months, we both have been meeting with our Village Trustees and Department Leaders preparing for the transition.  In addition, we have been working on our new “Village of Piermont, New York” Facebook page, where we will be posting Village Government announcements to help keep all our residents informed.  Watch for this new page to launch in the next couple of days.  We will also be working to improve our Village web site in the near future.

Over the past year, I met many wonderful residents who inquired how they can get more involved in the Village to help make Piermont a better place to live.  To those people, and to anybody else interested, I tell you that we have many excellent organizations and non-profits in our Village that are looking for people to get involved.  Some are looking for volunteers.  Some are looking for Board members.  Organizations such as the:

–           Piermont Fire Department

–           Piermont Historical Society

–           Piermont Civic Association

–           Piermont Chamber of Commerce

–           Piermont Library

–           P.A.L.

These organizations, as well as others, are hoping that more residents get involved and join.  It doesn’t matter if you have an hour a day, an hour a week, or an hour a month – every moment you can spend with these organizations is greatly appreciated and greatly in need.  There are a handful of residents trying to do the work of many!  I urge you to contact any of these or other organizations, join them, and make a difference by getting involved in the Community!  It will help to make Piermont a better place to live, and you will also feel better knowing that you contributed to the wellbeing of all!

This promises to be exciting times for Piermont.  I hope you all will join and support me in this new endeavor.  I wish all our residents a healthy, prosperous, and happy New Year!
